1. Say positive affirmations Positive affirmations? Yes, you read that right. Positive affirmations are motivational phrases you say to yourself before starting your day or doing a specific task. Try reciting a few before beginning practice or starting a routine to eliminate your fear and gain some powerful motivation!

2. Visualize yourself with proper skill When you picture yourself dancing beautifully, what do you see? If you can visualize yourself doing the acro skill properly, you have a much higher chance of succeeding. Like most things in life, if you can see it—you can achieve it. Always visualize the steps first and move forward with confidence.

3. Breathe and take your time No matter what your skill level is, breathing is and always will be a critical element of acro dance. If you find yourself feeling stuck, blocked, scared, or discouraged, a few well-timed breaths can be just what you need to get started.
